Tree Preservation Orders
Tree Preservation Orders protect specific trees and woodland areas so they cannot be cut down without the local authority’s written consent. We can provide an initial assessment of the health and safety of your trees and guide you through each process of applying to local authorities to carry out tree surgery. We also liaise with council highways, traffic management teams, electricity and phone line companies and stump grinding contractors on your behalf. All site visits, initial advice, plans for tree works and quotations are provided free of charge. All tree work is carried out to British Standard 3998:2010. Colin Chadwick can provide you with detailed and precise information you need for tree applications. After permission is granted, we can suggest replacement trees before work commences.

How Do I Apply to Carry Out Work on Trees Protected By Preservation Orders?
You will need to get permission from the local planning authority by submitting an application form. The information on the form will need to be clear about the proposed work, and you will need to provide information to support your case. These are available from the authority and the Government’s Planning Portal:
Urgent Storm Damage
We offer a 24 hour emergency call out service and if required can apply on your behalf for an emergency order to remove a dangerous tree that has a tree preservation order as soon as possible.
